You have now decided to explore the Pearl of Africa during your next vacation and looking into means of taking you to different places. Of course, you will need a car. Some may look into public transport or using the cars of their friends and relatives but this would not be an option for many that have no single connection in Uganda.
The only remaining mean would be getting a car rental that would better fit your travel requirements. Selecting the company to use car rental in Uganda is not a difficult job. You only need to plan your car rent strategy well, in advance.
However, many look into other aspects of the car rental such as prices & discounts, insurance policies, delivery & drop-off and payment options and forget the bigger question of; ‘What if it breaks down mid my trip?’ Frequent travelers always stick to one company because of one reason or two and to your assurance the main is how they are supported while out there in the field.
In my 6 years of experience as a reservations manager with Car Rental Uganda Limited’s brand of Car Hire Uganda, I have interacted with many clients and many give a genuine reason why they decide to choose one company over the other and that is the efficiency of the Roadside Assistance services they offer.
Leaving the client stranded in the middle of nowhere because of a mechanical problem with the rented car for longer hours might cost your company’s reputation. And this can bring about bad reviews. However, once you attend to your client in time when he/ she gets a problem on the road brings more confidence in your services. This is the reason why at Car Hire Uganda, we focus more on every detail of our clients while out there in the wilderness. We always advise our clients about the procedures they should follow in such unfortunate incidences.
What to do when the car breaks down
For normal mechanical breakdowns in our rental cars, we first advise our clients to notify our field support team in the office to thereby signal the nearby mechanic of the company to come and check what’s not happening with the car. The clients are given 2 – 3 contact numbers for field support from which they can make direct calls to notify us about any problem.
Some failures in the car could be minor and would need some simple directions from the support team and get back on the road. You only need to tell the team the signs that you see on the car that might be limiting it from performing well. For instance, battery terminal disconnections are a common happenings while driving in bumpy and dirty roads that might limit your car from starting the next time when the engine needs to be re-ignited.
